Traveling

As you can see I am traveling again for my project documenting the daily lives of Peace Corps volunteers. I am currently in St. Lucia in the Caribbean. I started my travels in St. Vincent and the Grenadines where this tropical flower photo was taken.

I will be traveling until next summer when I will start work on editing and preparing the photos to be published in a book. The book will be published by Other Places Publishing. http://www.otherplacespublishing.com/

I am still in need of funds to help with my travel expenses. Please go here to see how to support my work: http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/making-peace-with-the-world

Christmas in St. Vincent

I spent Christmas in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Christmas Eve morning we went to the finale of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines tradition of Nine Mornings. Pictured is Christmas Soca Legend C.P. Hall singing "Christmas in St. Vincent is Sweet" while handing out candy canes to the children.

Peace Corps Photography Project

Peace Corps volunteer Angela Myers teaches a computer class at a school. She is serving in rural Peru with her husband, Brian O'Malley.

Hello from the Hotel Sebastian in Quito, Ecuador. I want to take a moment to write a little about why I have been traveling. The pictures I've been posting here are merely snapshots I have been taking during my travels for a bigger project.

Currently I am working on an long term project photographing Peace Corps volunteers around the world. I will be working on this until next summer.

The 50th anniversary of Peace Corps is in 2011. I served as a volunteer in Jamaica from 2000 to 2002. It was an amazing experience. Doing this project is a way for me to use my photography skills to promote Peace Corps. I am looking to have a book published of the photos in time for the 50th.

The plan is to travel to at least two or more countries in every region where Peace Corps serves. I spend from three to nine days with a volunteer or volunteer couple photographing their daily lives as volunteers.

This travel is very expensive. So far I am funding this project entirely myself. I have a campaign at The Point that will help somewhat with the expenses if the goal is met. Please visit this site for more info and to support my work: http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/making-peace-with-the-world

So far I have photographed Peace Corps volunteers in Jamaica, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Ecuador.
